Personal Info

Dr. Asad U. Qamar is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Florida Heart & Vascular Institute, the practice he established in Ocala in 1997 with a single, enduring conviction: every Floridian deserves direct access to a board-certified cardiologist, regardless of their insurance status or financial situation. Over the past 25 years, that conviction has shaped not just a practice but a regional cardiovascular network that now spans nine clinic locations across Florida.

With more than 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. Qamar brings the deepest possible expertise to every patient encounter — from a first-time preventive evaluation to complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. He is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and holds fellowship designations from the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), and the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) — a combination of credentials that places him among the most comprehensively certified cardiologists practicing in North Central Florida.

Dr. Qamar is widely recognized across Marion County and the broader FHVI service region for his unwavering commitment to treating uninsured and Medicaid-enrolled cardiac patients — a commitment he has upheld throughout his 25-year tenure and that remains a defining characteristic of the practice he leads. He practices at the FHVI Ocala SW 17th Street Flagship and Ocala SW 62nd Court locations.
